Toys

It is about this time every year when I get my toys out of the garage and wonder what it would be like to drive them again… The black TR7 is currently displaying a tax disc with the date April 2004, the gold TR7 just has a badge from a classic car show I must have entered it in as a display exhibit back in 1998.

Memories of bygone cars

“I loved my TR7. His name was Trevor. He used to break down a lot. He finally died at the Isle of Wight ferry terminal in Porstmouth with one eye open and one shut. I got a Toyota MR2 mk2 instead, but it just wasn’t the same. RIP Trevor.”

Awww, this was posted by someone on a TR7 group in Facebook. It reminded me just why I tend not to flash my lights when driving the black TR7… one eye stays open, the other retracts back into the engine bay. The cause – the flippy light mechanism jams and requires dismantling and reconstructing. A good kick to the top of the light tends to do the trick but then you have to pull over to deliver the blow.

As for the breaking down, i’ve never had much of a problem with that on any of mine… disintergrating bodywork is a different matter!

Project TR7 : Can we fix it??

Becky’s obvious disappointment over the weekend when I failed to turn up in a nice sporty car… yet again, has spurred me into action to get the black TR7 back on the road. Therefore, here is a new occasional feature on basic car mechanics!!
