Skyline Central

I have taken a photo of this building on Rochdale Road in Manchester before but none of the ball suspended between the buildings. From different angles, you can create various different patterns.

Panoramas from Victoria

On sunday I went into Manchester on the train. Due to engineering works on the Piccadilly line, trains from Warrington were arriving at Manchester Victoria – a station I have never used before. It made me consider the possible scale of expansion in the railway network if the new Manchester rail hub becomes a reality. It would really just be turning the clocks back to before Dr Beeching came along in the 1960′s and thought it would be fun to decimate the rail network.

Manchester Exchange railway station is still essentially there with platforms and a footbridge in tact, only the station roof, building and track have gone. Nothing that couldn’t be put right. In my view, the railway network to the north of the city should be expanded to ease congestion around Piccadilly.

The panoramas are basically the same, one from above platform 6 at Victoria and from platform 3. The super long platform that joined Victoria and Exchange is there on the left. The images expand when you click them!

View from the viaduct (2)

Following on from my journey from Deansgate to Manchester Oxford Road by train, here is the other section of the video. Taken a few weeks later, this time travelling between Platform 14 at Manchester Piccadilly and Platform 2 at Manchester Oxford Road looking south. My favourite bit is the secret garden on top of the Charles Street Multi-storey Car Park.

Stockport Panorama

Well I did say ages ago that I would try the panorama looking north over Stockport Town Centre once again. It turned out ok this time… click the photo for the bigger version!

View from the viaduct

Travelling between Manchester Deansgate and Manchester Oxford Road railway stations looking towards the south of the city. I wonder how the view will differ in 5 years and 10 years time…
