Project TR7 : Can we fix it??
July 30, 2006, 10:02 pmBecky’s obvious disappointment over the weekend when I failed to turn up in a nice sporty car… yet again, has spurred me into action to get the black TR7 back on the road. Therefore, here is a new occasional feature on basic car mechanics!!

Important motoring moments

I didn’t get a chance to take a photo when DumDum reached 100,000 miles - mainly because I was in the fast lane of the M62 during rush hour at the time. The motorway was empty when it reached 111,111 miles so I pulled into the hard shoulder to take a photo. Ironically it was exactly the same section of motorway the two milestones occured on… to within 100 yards (but on alternate carriageways!!)
I’m aiming to keep DumDum on the road until at least 250,000 miles…

Where’s all the rain gone?
July 24, 2006, 9:34 pmWhilst I might not mind too much about the hot weather, the plants in the woodland garden are really starting to suffer. Everything is starting to go brown - that and the big Berberis bush might have finally given up living. For the second evening in a row the hosepipe & sprinkler have just been left on. I think I need to come up with some sort of permanent irrigation system - the leakage analysist at United Utilities must be looking at the graphs from the local DMA meter thinking… “there’s got to be a mains burst somewhere round there.”
It’s either watch 6 months work go down the drain or empty a reservoir or two.

Tom Hingley & the Lovers
July 23, 2006, 6:48 pmThis was one of the reasons Damian had come up to Blackburn. To be honest, apart from being told he was the lead singer with the Inspiral Carpets I had no idea who he was. So when this right nutter on the stage side of the barrier stood directly in front of me banging a drumstick with some extreme vigour against the barrier, I couldn’t have told you who he was… until the point when he got on stage and started singing. That’s when it clicked.
