September 27, 2006, 11:33 pm
It was sooo small you could almost put it in your pocket! The first reduced size Mini i’ve seen, this one was in Central London last weekend.

I saw Tony in Manchester!
September 26, 2006, 10:22 pm…Tony Benn, the ex-labour MP that is. There I was loitering on top of the reception counter at the UMIST students union when in he wandered, in a rather spritely way I thought. Apparently he was introducing some trade union evening in Club Underground which culminated with a free film showing on a related subject. For someone in his 80’s he seemed quite animated when chatting to people in the students union foyer…
I was there however for the lecture on Victorian Tunnelling methods… if it wasn’t for the 1/2 day CPD the Instuitution of Civil Engineers give me for going, I probably wouldn’t have bothered. I don’t know why the quality of lectures up north are so much worse than those down at the headquarters in London. I was glad I took a pint and newspaper in with me in the end…

Service Announcement
September 26, 2006, 9:13 pmIt’s amazing the pathetic lives people have, bombarding websites with Spam - i’m up to 40 spam comments in just the last 5 days (but the filters seem to be holding up just fine). So from now on (for the time being) EVERY comment will need to be personally moderated by me before it gets added to the website. Apologies to any legitimate commenters who i’m afraid will have to wait just a little longer to see their comments appear but it’s a step that’s required at the moment…

Legal Documentation
September 24, 2006, 7:16 pmDuplicating a tenancy agreement is seriously dull (as I have found out today). So far to liven it up a little i’ve made one slight alteration…
“PROVIDED THAT nothing in this sub-clause (5) contained shall impose any liability on the Tenant which is cast upon the Landlord by statute.
(6) Not to… Keep or harbour any cats, dogs, cows or wildebeest at the property.”
I’m of course concerned about the damage to the fences the Wildebeest could do so the tenants will be banned from keeping any. The tenants are Polish though, so probably won’t have a clue what they are anyway…

Fruit on demand
September 24, 2006, 12:21 pmThe woodland garden is turning into its annual fruit-fest :-). There are apples galore from the 4 apple trees (eating & baking), the pear tree is just about ready and full of pears but another week I reckon for the blackberries and red grapes…
I’m already on my second fruit portion of the day and it’s not even 1pm!!

Police Horses
September 24, 2006, 11:19 am
Not a bad job I suppose if you like horses… sit on a horse and watch the BBC big screen. I’m not too sure of the point of police horses in general use though - there were two causing all sorts of traffic chaos whilst they meandered through East Didsbury on friday night…

Time standing still…
September 23, 2006, 10:41 pmI came across this scene and immediately thought about the photo’s you see in museums of streets and general life that were taken around the 1900s. Apart from the small amount of tarmac in the foreground which is the give away, I reckon this could well be Edgeley, Stockport, circa 1920 rather than summer 2006.

Birthday Cake?
September 21, 2006, 7:51 pm
After much searching I might have found a birthday cake for next month… Asda seem to be selling SpongeBob Cakes!! I can confirm that SpongeBob is very spongy, tasty and covered in loads of icing. I particularly enjoyed munching through his eyes. Mmmm, sugar.
