Calton Hill
To the east end of Princes Street in Edinburgh is Calton Hill, recommended for good views of the city.

There I was walking into Edinburgh along Leith Walk when I saw this bridge… it needed closer investigation as it is a rather imaginative use of a truss design. I estimate £500,000 – £750,000 would buy one of these for a 20m span.

I’m up in Edinburgh, well Leith in fact – there is an old fire engine building next door to where we are all staying…

Today i’m over in Nottingham. From looking at the mail that has been delivered since I was last here there is one christmas card that sums up the pointlessness of sending hundreds of cards to random people you may once have known but no longer keep in touch with. There is a letter to the Walker family from John and Pam, the writer “hopes all is well with you all” and promises they willl “be in touch in the new year”. The thing is that the Walker family moved out in early 2004, the property was then empty for around six months before I moved in during September 2004. Why on earth keep sending cards to people if you can’t be bothered properly keeping in touch with them? No doubt the house will get another card from John & Pam next year…
