Why pay more?

May 28, 2008, 3:59 pm

According to this large sign in my local B&Q warehouse, I can only assume they must be diversifying into other markets. I can see this product being popular during the hot summer months. I couldn’t see any rainwater for sale - I can only assume it had sold out due to the 15% off price reduction.

Woodwork IV

May 27, 2008, 2:44 pm

I think i’ll call it a day at that. It has turned out rather well in the end - i’m quite pleased with it. Give it a year or so and the Wisteria I have planted will have grown up the red side and started to travel along the top trellis.

Woodwork II

May 26, 2008, 1:02 pm

Work is progressing well with two of the “yacht sails” complete. One is currently tied to a post with string and the other is on the floor surrounded by stakes to bend the wood and also act as a template for me to build the third.

Woodwork

May 25, 2008, 1:17 pm

This is what I aim to build over the next few days. It will be a trellis screen between the grassed area and patio. The joiners on site at work thought it amusing that an engineer (someone who just sits in an office doing things on a computer) would attempt such a thing - especially as it involves bending wood into curved shapes! Let’s see how it goes - i’m actually quietly confident…

Disused Swimming Baths

May 24, 2008, 10:40 pm

I had the opportunity recently to visit a disused swimming baths, currently closed to the public located just a few miles south of Manchester. The buliding though not as ornate inside as Victoria Baths in Manchester appears to be suffering from the exact same problems - they are both mild steel framed structures and the steel has corroded somewhat.

St. Peter’s Church, Ancoats

May 19, 2008, 8:34 pm

This was a building I first noticed almost two years ago, a selection of buildings surrounding the former St. Peter’s Church have now been partially demolished which enables some interesting shots to be taken.

The view from Site

May 15, 2008, 5:37 pm

Everyone involved rather likes one of the projects I am working on at the moment, mainly due to the location. When the weather is good, I tend to not bother using the site cabin - instead I go and sit in the field next to it with my laptop and work from there. Just over the hill in the background is Derbyshire… a mere 1 mile away.

…and it’s goodnight from him

May 11, 2008, 4:46 pm

This was the train from Chester to Manchester Picadilly late on friday night. The train was stopped at Manchester Oxford Road station for a good five minutes during which time, neither of the two people moved. I reckon the chap on the right spent most of saturday with a hangover. You have to be quite drunk to fall asleep face first onto such a table.
