August 31, 2008, 5:39 pm

This must be “the world’s local” bug… it is an HSBC albino bug from the worlds local bank.

Shrubaganza!

August 30, 2008, 11:58 pm

I couldn’t resist. I’ve been back again to the local garden centre. I’ve taken advantage of the “Shrubaganza” deals and cleared out all of the special offer Cordyline Red Star plants. The garden will look interesting in winter… there will be lots of frost jackets around several of the plants including my new palm tree.

Hell’s Mouth

August 26, 2008, 8:27 pm

This is the view towards the sea at Hell’s Mouth, near Abersoch. I’ve split it into three images, each one an image in itself I think…

Replacement Glazing

August 25, 2008, 7:10 pm

It doesn’t look too bad, i’ve spent a few hours this afternoon putting a new window in the car. I’ve used part of a PVC fascia board which works well enough.

Hell’s Mouth, the morning after…

August 24, 2008, 6:35 am

One non-Beachfest campers tent didn’t survive the night it seems, and then there is my car… It actually seems like it may be a nice day weatherwise - Grrr.

Camping in the UK

August 23, 2008, 10:02 pm

Can’t you see the fun we are all having??!

Tonight has involved H20… a lot of it and a set of keys left inside a car. Alas the car was the Almera and a window is no longer. On the plus side, the windows on the Almera have proved to be rather strong… one large Maglight was broken trying to shatter the window…

Hell’s Mouth Live…ish

August 23, 2008, 6:03 pm

Well, Beachfest is well underway in Hell’s Mouth, North West Wales. The weather is wonderful… if driving rain is your cup of tea, but being british we are making the most of it. Note for self - don’t trust Easton’s Sat Nav again, go for paper maps, it’ll save an hour of driving around in circles!

Concrete Cows revisited

August 21, 2008, 7:29 pm

I forgot to post this a little while ago… the concrete cows in Milton Keynes have had a facelift! The little one now even has a new face following some concrete reconstructive surgery… They are currently in the main shopping area having mooved from a field to the north west of MK.

Castlefield Regen…

August 20, 2008, 6:34 pm

I wonder if anyone has been watching the series on Channel 4 regarding the regeneration of Castlefield? I think it is currently up to episode 3…

Episode 1 was a personal favourite with everyone in the office, the challenge - build a bridge across a wide river. The catch - the local residents group were in effect “the client” and were instructing the designer to build what they wanted. In the end the residents group decided they would like a river level pontoon type bridge… until the bad storm incident involving a barge breaking free. It’s a stroke of luck that the bridge hadn’t been built at that point as there wouldn’t have been much bridge left! It is one way of practically demonstrating why pontoon bridges don’t get built across rivers.

It is like car crash tv, you know you what is coming, long before it does and you know you will end up shouting at the “tribal elders” of low intelligence due to their stupidity - but you can’t help keep watching.

So far they have got a new bridge completely different to what they wanted and a few parks that they didn’t want or like the design of!
