Bug of the Week #27

November 22, 2008, 10:33 am

These cool bugs were coursemates with Manda down in London but obviously heard about the fantastic life bugs have in Warrington so posted themselves up north on the Royal Mail Express. They are still happy to tell anyone who wants to know that they <3 University College London Union…

Excavation

November 21, 2008, 6:18 pm

Travelling into Manchester on the train this morning I noticed a rather interesting hole in the ground. Later this afternoon I made a few journeys between Oxford Road & Deansgate stations to try and photograph it. Below are the best attempts from a moving train. I’m wondering if it is the remnants of an old victorian gasometer. It is on the development at the Whitworth Street West junction where the old Hacienda used to be but on the other side of the viaduct.

Waiting

November 14, 2008, 8:15 am

20 minutes early for the train… now that is an error! I can confirm all the crushed cans of Fosters littering the platform are definitely nothing to do with me.

Platt Fields Park Fireworks 2008

November 5, 2008, 10:12 pm

This year started exactly as last with everyone lined up in front of the bonfire. What no-one had been told was that this year the fireworks were not in the same place as the bonfire and hence there was some very last minute running across the field to view the fireworks by most of the crowd. I, knowing the best place to look was upwards and not straight ahead stayed put. The tree made for an interesting addition to some of the photos.

Smashing Update…

November 4, 2008, 8:11 pm

Morrison’s Warrington as opposed to either of the Stockport stores has had a good stock of Smash. I now have more stock than both Stockport stores and the one in Warrington and also have a stylish Smash branded cardboard container holder (which isn’t big enough for all my instant mash!). The eat by date is September 2009 and i’m sure I will have devoured it all by then. I may go and see if Bredbury has restocked in the morning when I pass by…

Smashing!

November 3, 2008, 7:54 pm

I happened to be in Morrrison’s Bredbury today and was pleasantly surprised to find Smash instant mashed potato on 50% off special offer. Being a fan of a good deal, I preceded to clear the entire contents of the shelf (apart from two sachets as the person behind me wanted some Smash as well) into my basket. Bouyed by my purchasing success on the way home I popped into Morrison’s Cheadle Heath for another purchase. Alas, it seems some inconsiderate individual had already purchased the entire stock of Smash in store :( . The Smash special offer lasts until the 16th. I have time for more purchases…

Drunken Rat

November 1, 2008, 8:07 pm

I didn’t ask this drinker I bumped into when out in Warrington last night what his name was, I can only assume he was a distant relative of Ike A Rat.
