Patriotic Micra

July 27, 2009, 10:31 pm

I pass this car every day, i’ve never particluarly been a fan of the new shape Nissan Micra but think the colour scheme would look good on some cars. If only I had a spare car that needed a respray… oh wait a minute, maybe I do!

Plans for the weekend

July 17, 2009, 8:31 pm

Colleague: “Up to anything good this weekend?”

Me: “Not really, foregoing two drinking sessions so I can go to the house in Nottingham and finish off replacing the roof on the garage that I started last weekend.”

Colleague: “Ah.”

Me: “You really know when you are getting old when you choose DIY over a night of drunkeness…”

Colleague: “Yes…”

Me: “Are you up to anything more exciting than me this weekend?”

Colleague: “Not really, i’m starting to paint the bathroom tonight.”

Me: “Hmmm…. nice.”

Mmmm Bacon…

July 14, 2009, 9:50 pm

It seems it wasn’t just me who had to get a photo of “Bacon Buoy”!. There is also a photo online of the new Bacon Buoy which sits above Bacon Ledge outside the harbour on St. Mary’s, Scilly.

A new low

July 13, 2009, 6:14 pm

I’ve found a Wetherspoon pub that sells a Beer & Burger meal for £3.99, significantly cheaper than the previous £4.69 record in Nottingham.

The Calverts Court in Stockport is today also featuring a guest appearance by Mr Vomit on the carpet. In the half hour i’ve been here, the manageress has only got round to strategically placing a chair over it presumably to stop people standing in it but nothing else.

I assume it may have been giro day for the local unemployed based on the condition of some of the customers.

The food price is good, however I tend to prefer frequenting Wetherspoon pubs that haven’t been trashed by teatime.

River Medina, IOW

July 7, 2009, 7:59 pm

I chose to walk between Cowes and Newport along the old railway line which is now a cycleway. It follows the River Medina, and makes for some good views.

Cowes, Isle of Wight

July 7, 2009, 7:42 pm

My natural herding instincts pursuaded me to visit Cowes whilst I was in the area. Alas it seems there is no bovine activity in Cowes. I travelled on the fast Red Jet service from Southampton which was good, though not as good as the helecopter ride the previous day. Cowes is home to the largest outdoor Union Jack apparently, so I took a photo of it.

Tresco

July 5, 2009, 2:58 pm

This is Oliver Cromwell’s fort on the island of Tresco, the second most populated of the Scilly Isles behind St. Mary’s. The island is also home to an impressive formal garden which will feature as a post at a later date.

In the background is the nearby island of Bryher.

Following the Bryher Triffid massacre, I may be continuing the holiday on my own…
