Let there be light!

August 26, 2009, 9:52 pm

I do like reading the excuses which are listed as reasons for trains running late. This train which I was on was running rather late even though it left Warrington on time. It doesn’t give any reason however what the issue was, which is a shame… as it was a good one! On this occasion, the train had no functioning headlights… illumination was provided by the driver holding a small torch through the cab window and the train pootling along at 20mph.

Heritage Open Days 2009

August 22, 2009, 11:45 pm

It is almost that time of year again. It is always worth browsing through the list of venues that will be open completely free of charge to see what is of interest this year. Heritage Open Days 2009

Meeeeow!

August 20, 2009, 5:33 pm

I was out inspecting a wall when I discovered this feline sheltering. The cat won’t like the fact i’m going to have its nice quiet rest area demolished. I didn’t feel it appropriate to mention that it will soon have to find alternate accommodation…

Antique Fire Extinguisher

August 9, 2009, 8:58 pm

Maybe the fire precautions in UMIST’s Renold Building need revision. This fire extinguisher according to the label was manufactured in 1961 and I think would look more at home in a museum as an exhibit.

Back to 1991

August 1, 2009, 2:32 pm

It is fair to say that i’ve never particulary been a fan of attempting to tidy my bedroom. Hence today, i’m finding some historical relics. It seems back in 1991 I was a fan of Walkers Crisps in ready salted flavour, Golden Wonder Wotsits in Cheesy Flavour and Smiths Tuba Loops in ready salted flavour. The Tuba Loops haven’t ever been opened it appears, just crushed beyond recognition.

Also of interest was this bit of paper from school… i’ve sort of given up on the computer programming since I was 14 years old, but still partake in the gardening!
