Travel with East Midlands Trains…
It hasn’t been a particularly good day on the East Midlands Trains operated Liverpool to Norwich route. I thought a day trip into Nottingham to visit house no.2 was an idea given that trains run direct from Warrington and are only £24.60 (less than I use in petrol when I drive). Alas the service I was on going to Nottingham broke down just outside Deansgate Station. After around 15 minutes, it managed to limp into Oxford Road Station getting 3 of the 4 coaches to the platform before coming to a halt. The official line was “This train has been delayed by a train fault”. In actual fact, the brakes were stuck on.
The replacement train was so full by the time it arrived in Stockport that of all the people standing on the platform, only 4 people managed to fit in before the doors were closed.
Arrival 1hr 09mins late (50% refund of ticket value is now due)
It seems the 1737 from Nottingham back to Liverpool is currently running 26 minutes late. The official line for that delay is “This train has been delayed by a person hit by a train”. So a good train to have missed.
The 1938 is so far running to schedule, but it hasn’t reached Chesterfield yet so there is plenty of time for a delay!
