Nottingham Masters Tennis 2010

This weekend was the Nottingham Masters 2010. A sort of replacement exhibition event in place of the old Nottingham Open which was discontinued in 2008. The exhibition event moves to Manchester some time next week.

The impressive Outdoor Court at the Nottingham Tennis Centre

Indoor Court No. 6 – a perfect replacement venue for the Mens Doubles Final when rain stopped play outside.

Mansour Bahrami – The person I actually went to watch play. I haven’t laughed so much in a long time. A true entertainer!

Jeremy Bates – Competitive as always, but lost all four of his matches that I saw.

Martina Hingis – It is only when you stand next to her that you realise just how slight her build is. I’ve no idea how she managed to consistently beat the more muscular female players on the WTA tour.

Richard Krajicek – The power and accuracy of his first serve is truly impressive. Jeremy Bates proved there wasn’t much you can do when confronted by such a powerful first serve.

Michaella Krajicek – Playing some impressive tennis during the event, and back on the WTA tour after injury.
