Ken Dodd’s Christmas Happiness Show

Last night Ken Dodd appeared in Warrington performing at the Parr Hall. Known for performances of long duration, he lived up to expectations by starting this particular show at 1930 and (with a 45 minute intermission starting at 2240) kept going until 0105. The audience were also of mixed age ranges with quite a proportion representing the under 40′s age bracket – the 60s and older age bracket were also well represented as would be expected! In a quip to a member of the audience whom had the nerve to look at his watch as the performance neared midnight, Dodd stated “Sir, you should know by now that a watch is not necessary to time the lengths of my performances – you need a calendar!”.

It was definitely worth seeing how a comedian of the older generation deliver their jokes in a live setting – the audience were exercising their chuckle muscles throughout!

At the end of the show there was one thing the audience were all discussing. Taking into account he is 84 years old… How on earth did he manage to not only remain standing on stage for the best part of four hours, but also deliver gag after gag after gag in quick succession and keep the audience entertained throughout the performance.

I recommend going to see him perform live.
