Happy New Year!
In comes 2007, out goes my car battery. Dead as a Dodo… It wasn’t unexpected, I could tell it was on its way out around six months ago but I was after “value for money” so kept with it until the end. It packed up at probably the second best location I could think of, with loads of people to help push start the car. Suprisingly there was no damage from the “raised kerb hits underside of car twice” incident but I think I successfully proved the car was virtually impossible to steer with the powered steering disabled.
A visit to Halfords on Tuesday morning is in order…
A special mention is deserved for one of Rachel’s cakes… I thought this one looked rather impressive. Had it been combined with a sponge cake inside then it would have been perfect!!

Well, as it turned out, the battery is still hanging on and working. Alas the problem was the solenoid attached to the starter motor which had completely burnt out. Of all the Nissan dealers I visited to try and sort things out so I can get to work tomorrow, the chap at the one in Liverpool was most helpful. With his directions I ended up in Aintree where the required part was purchased. £52 instead of the £235 + VAT the Widnes dealer wanted. So after 2 hrs work to take off the old and fit the new motor, the car works again…
If it wasn’t for the fact i’ve saved myself hundreds of pounds and got the car running again, i’d consider this a wasted day off work. In the end I didn’t make it to the UK North public inquiry, which was a shame.

Remind me in October and you can have a special sponge birthday cake!
