Mystery Location

Does anyone recognise the location? There is one obvious clue. I’m sure the building has been extended at either side from the original design, however it is 20 years since I was last there… when it was something other than a hotel. The building itself is 74 years old on the 1st July 2007.

It reminds me of somewhere in Croydon, though I’m probably wrong.

Is that a De Havilland Rapide?

Oh well done Mr Ian – it is indeed a DH89 Dragon Rapide. The location is somewhere local-ish, somewhere I drove past today, i’ll prolong the mystery for a little longer… then i’ll put up the rest of the photos!

MarriottĀ® Liverpool Hotel South, Speke Aerodrome.

Mr Muir, full marks! – it is the old Liverpool Airport. In the days when it didn’t have a silly name to make it appear trendy nor a logo that could have been drawn by a five year old this was the main terminal at Speke. These days the new airport is located a couple of miles south east towards the bizarrely named hamlet of “Oglet”.
