48 years on…
Always a fan of the Concrete Centre’s Concrete Quarterly Magazine, i’ve downloaded issue 42 dating from 1959 which includes an article on the “emergence” of a new Manchester. Highlighting examples of new architecture, i’ve recreated (so far) two of the photographs to see the changes. First, Peter House on St. Peter’s Square and then Piccadilly Gardens Bus Station (apparently demolished in 1996).

not seen a lambretta for a long time.
I don’t remember the shelters at Piccadilly Gardens although I remember the gardens.
So Lewis’s is now Primark.
