Manchester Architecture #48

The former Department for Employment Building, Aytoun Street, Manchester (4 Images)

The building has been derelict for a number of years and not too far off demolition from what I understand.

this is one of my favorite buildings in manc for some reason- god knows why, its just, well, right,y’know?given how long its been derelict, it doesnt surprise me that its facing demolition, but still.shame.

I rather like it too. I have seen its replacement on the interweb somewhere, it is another tall generic glass building. I’ll see if I can find the image of the proposed building again.

Apparently the replacement building is to be called the Albany Crown Tower.
