Sewer Survey
I was amused by a generic letter addressed “to the householder” pushed through my letter box today… apparently my former employers in Liverpool are conducting an investigation into drains wrongly connected to surface rainwater sewers for United Utilities. The letter seemed familiar, it is in fact the same one from when we carried out an investigation to leakage from clean water mains 6 years ago but with a few words altered.
They apparently would like to access my garden area and drains. How nice, – I won’t be cooperating however as I know from the project 6 years ago that any faults once discovered would be at my expense to put right (unless the house was built prior to the 1930s when due to a bit of a legal loophole the water company are responsible). Coincidently they can’t lift the drain cover in the front driveway to carry out a dye test to see where the dye comes out (a standard test) – it just so happens my dad’s Volvo Estate is parked right over it (with two flat tyres for good measure!). I shall also put up a “Beware of the Rottweilers” sign on the side gate – just incase they think about jumping over.
I shall have some fun with this…
